Paints Used: Automotive base coat/clear coat
Instruments: Double action airbushes, both gravity
and siphon feed. Touch-up gun, spray gun, acetate masks.
Duration: I didn't keep track but I would guess
6 hours airbrushing, half-hour clear coating, one hour buffing and polishing.
Cost: $900.00, fairing provided by customer.
The first thing I do is spray the eagle's head with a
yellowish/white mixture that I mix myself. I start loosely, filling in
a large area and then tightening up the design as I go along. At this
point I want to define the direction of the feathers, as well as the eyes
and beak.
Once I am satisfied with the overall composition I start adding color
where neccesary. While I have some yellow paint mixed, I decide to get
right into the background and start laying out the foundation for the
fire. Even though I am using hand held masks at this time I still try
to keep it loose.
At this point I've only used to colors. The yellowish/white
mixture for the eagle'e face and yellow for the fire's foundation. I wanted
to use orange but since I already had the yellow mixed I went ahead and
shot a light coat of red kandy to give the illusion of orange...continued
